Guest Post Alyssa from Live Love Craft: Mustache/Lips Mug Tutorial

Today we have my very first guest: Alyssa from Live Love Craft! Alyssa is funny, amazing, and all around talented! In the blogger world, she is my best friend (though I'm not sure if she knows that yet...). I'm so honored that she is my first guest blogger! Let's all welcome Alyssa!

Hi guys! It’s Alyssa from Live. Love. Craft Before I start my tutorial, I want to thank Naomi for letting me guest post! Naomi is such an awesome person, I just met her and I already feel like we’ve been friends for years. :D

Today I’m going to show you how to make a painted coffee cup/ mug. I made a lips and moustache set for my newly wed Uncle and Aunt.

For this project you are going to need:
Clear con-tact paper
X-acto knife
Marker
Coffee cups {any ceramic/ glass cup will do}
Printer
Foam paintbrush
Ceramic paint {I use FolkArt brand}

First you’re going to either print or draw your picture {‘stache or lips} Now you’re going to place the image under your con-tact paper and trace the outline with your marker.
Next, put the con-tact paper on your cutting board and cut over the line you drew with your X-acto knife.
 Peel the inside piece out.
You’re going to take the reverse image {stencil} and center it on your mug. Make sure you put it on the opposite side you drink out of.
Take your sponge brush and dip it in the paint {a little goes a long way!}. Using dabbing motions fill in your stencil completely.

{at this point, since it was for my Aunt and Uncle, I hand painted their names and wedding date on the back of each mug.}

While the paint is still wet, peel your stencil off and let the cup dry.

 In about 30 minutes you can follow the paint manufacturer’s directions and bake your mugs.

If you liked this tutorial you should check out my blog!

Thanks, Naomi for having me!
Xoxo,

Alyssa
