DIYs: Done

Well, I've made some bracelets from jersey scraps (ignore the scary monster nails)...

I finished a cowl. It's the scrunchable scarf pattern with the ends sewn together.
I refashioned a dress shirt (details on that in another post)...

...and my sister made a shirt with my tutorial! Didn't she do a great job? I used a strip of the fabric to make one of my bracelets. ;) Speaking of that very cool, stripey fabric, it was only $2.39 a yard.

That's all for today, folks.

So I Got Some Yarn...

...and I think I may be in love. Seriously. The yarn is so soft and squooshy and cuddly... It's a DREAM to knit with. I got this totally gorg Malabrigo Rios, and I think it's the prettiest yarn I've ever knitted with. I also got some Malabrigo Merino Worsted and some Plymouth Encore Worsted. It's amazing. I'm currently working on a scarf. Whenever I get new fabric or yarn, i get the same thrill that some people get when they buy a new pair of shoes. Do you know that feeling?

A Few Things...

Don't have many creative things happening... But I made one of these in a red, burgundy-ish color. Isn't it so cute? Go here for the tutorial.

Recently one of my friends gave me a chocolate crinkle cookie, and it was sooo good. I can't help but think about it at least twice a day. It was chewy and fudgy and scrumdiddlyumptious. So I found some recipes...

I might have shown you this one before... (recipe)

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Plus I also want to make homemade MARSHMALLOWS!!! Spongy, springy, soft ones.
bouncy marshmallows

Also, at the moment I think convertible hat-cowls are pretty cool right now even though it's getting hotter.

Free crochet pattern-could easily be used as a guide to knit in the round, or even with 2 straight needles
I'm super ready for summer!

Three Things, plus 2 Others

Haven't shown you this, but I made it back in December when I was obsessed with ear warmers. Mustard bow... I love the color. CO 13 sts with size 10 needles. Original pattern here.

Cherry blossoms--or something like them. They look like it, at least.

3 things from Pinterest (which technically makes it 5 things, but oh well...). For some reason, though, the new Blogger doesn't do the HTML/embedded button things well, so I'll just link here.

Cool dress. I love silver; I think it's prettier than gold.

This makes me laugh. I love Harry Potter. And have you seen the Hunger Games trailer? It looks sooo good! I hope it is; the only other time I've gotten this excited about a book/movie is Percy Jackson (which, to me, was a disappointment... maybe I'll do a rant on that someday...) and HP7. Actually, I'm sure I've been excited about other book/movies, but I can't remember any. (via)
Not too much creative stuff goin' on. Relaxing and taking my time... y'know, breaks between homework.

Have a nice day! And if you don't, well... sorry?

Finished Objects (of affection)

Crocheting a scrubby (pattern).
Knitting a monster messenger bag.

Listening to music from Mulan.

The usual.

I'm sorry for lack of creative posts, but I'm sooo busy. And yes, that is partially an excuse for my bad posts and it is also partially true. Right after this I've got basketball practice. So please excuse my behavior. And yes, I don't like it either when bloggers disappear for months on end with no warning. I'd never do that. Well. I dunno. Maybe I would.

Slouchy Hat Pattern

As I've said before, I just opened a new Ravelry shop, and I currently have... 2 patterns! My newest one is a slouchy hat. I did this 'photo shoot' on Christmas day, which was fun. I may have mentioned before that I knit this for my sister's Christmas present. I knit it with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn held together in a teal color with cheapy Red Heart Super Savers. I don't really like it, as it's scratchy and stiff, but I'm not willing to spend a ton on something amazing like...mmm...Malabrigo? I don't know; I use mostly yarn you find in a craft store. However, after blocking and washing it'll loosen up.

This is the perfect project for a beginner, as it's super duper easy. It's knit with big needles and super bulky yarn, or two strands of worsted weight held together. It can be knit in the round, too, for an even quicker knit. You could start in the morning, finish by noon, and wrap it up for your friend's birthday present in the evening. Well, I don't know if I could go that fast, but... maybe you could? I'd use a more quality yarn, however, like Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (yes, to me that's extremely good quality). It's super long so if you're not 'digging' the slouchy look, you can fold up the brim for a beanie.

Yes, I know, I look creepy from the side with my nerd glasses on like that... like some creeper... but I promise you, I'm smiling.

This is really fun to knit; instant gratification. Please take the time to look! Thanks! :)

Top Ten Tutorials of 2011

These, in my opinion, are the best tutorials of 2011. :)

1. Draped circle top- by far the best tutorial (or at least most popular!). Super comfy! I wear this a ton...

2. Slouchy boxy tee-Even though I JUST put this tutorial up Tuesday, I really love it.

My sister's already made one (it's a crop top).

3. T-shirt racerback tank-not my favorite (not even close), but one of the more popular tutorials.
4. Wrap bracelet-I love this bracelet; I wear it a lot.
5. Braided headband-very comfy, stretchy, workout type headband.

6. Draped cardigan-a guest post.
7. Shawl pin/barette-made from wire.
8. Paper chain bracelet-used with pretty scrapbook paper.
9. 5-in-1 infinity scarf-soft and cushy cowl pattern with 5 different ways of wearing it.
10. Tunic-this is what I called hip hop style, I guess. Obviously I had no idea what I was talking about. Wait... I still don't know what I'm talking about. Oh well. Just PLEASE ignore how I wrote it. It's pretty embarassing, the kind of post that you REALLY want to delete/severely edit but don't have the heart to. Yep. It's that embarassing. I guess I thought I sounded pretty cool... Not that I'm not, but, y'know...
Wow. Tomorrow's 2012!!! Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Hope you all had a great one! Spent yesterday playing Just Dance 3 on the Wii. :) For my mom I made her some fleece boot liners (tutorial here),
and for my sister I knitted this teal slouchy hat (I'm modeling in this pic). The sweater and sweatshirt I'm wearing were Christmas presents, too.
Also, for my friend I knit a pocket scarf. The pockets close with two little wooden buttons. Wish I could get a better picture...

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!
