Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Look how cute... my 5 year old cousin gave me a pokemon cell-phone charm/screen cleaner! It has a fuzzy backing and a stretchy cord so you can rub the dirt off your screen. I think I can make some of these. :)

Oh, I think I am going to go to the fabric store soon! Yay!

On thursday, I went on a field trip to watch the Giants game. i'm not a big baseball fan, but I enjoyed myself! I think I wouldn't have been nearly as happy if I hadn't ordered some garlic fries to share with my friend C (though they were extremely expensive--$7.25!).

A classmate, L, told us she sawBuster Posy at the Coke bottle slide, and about 5 of us went down. Then we realized that all the players had to be in the dugout. We just decided to tell L we saw him, because we assumed she was lying. Then one of our classmates called and we told her we saw him at the Coke slide. When we got back to our seats, our whole class was gone.

Turns out they were all at the Coke slide. Even L, who supposedly saw Buster Posy already...

Anyways, I had a great time. There was a cool asian guy who was dancing really oddly when the Giants scored. Like, he looked like he was driving a very large car with a giant steering wheel. Then he made his arms into a Y and jerked each hand down separately in a short, stiff motion. People were asking for his autograph and stuff (he's not even famous or anything). Then he looked at me and my friend (or at least that's what we liked to think), pointed at us, and said, "Never give up!" I wish I got a video of him... Dang it.

How to Package Knits: A Mini Tutorial

So, for my friend's birthday, I gave her a gift card to Pac Sun in a knitted case and an infinity scarf. I hoped she'd like it, and I think she does--at least the other guests did. I think the packaging definitely helps. If I just threw it in a plastic bag, I don't think it would be nearly as likeable. So I cut 2 long pieces of brown wrapping paper, drew my label on one with a Sharpie, and then I sewed the pieces together to prevent her from seeing the bleeding onto the other side. After, I rolled up my scarf, and marked where the label overlapped. After, I taped it shut with packing tape, and voila! A professional-looking scarf. People thought I bought it.

I made the scarf with size 15 needles and Loops and Threads Charisma yarn. I hope she has a wonderful birthday. :)

Charly Scarf

I finished knitting the scarf! Now I need to package it, make the card, etc... I will post some more soon, it's just I'm preoccupied finishing up my friend's gift.

Ideas

For my friend's birthday party, I want to knit her a chunky infinity scarf, like The Charly Scarf from Getting Purly With It. I also want to sew a pleated bag from Noodlehead. Then maybe I'll stick in a gift card or $13 or something. I wish this computer could upload pics better, but it can't. Sigh...

Party...

One of my friends is having a birthday party, and I want to give her something special (it's her 13th)--that is, if I actually go. But I shall be positive for now and assume I'm going--I wouldn't want to miss out. ;) Here's my haiku for her: The new birthday girl; The one who just turned thirteen. Oh, she is so old. [this line could also be, 'Oh, she's so ancient.' Either way.] I want to make her a gathered pouch and also a handknitted cowl/infinity scarf. Have you ever made a handmade gift?

Drawstring Bag

In social studies, we play a game where you can give the emperor gifts in exchange for extra koku, or rice. So I gave a little drawstring bag with 'emperor' embroidered on it in Japanese. My group then filled it with little origami stars and cranes. Finished bag:

I basically cut a rectangle of loosely-woven fabric by my desired width and double the length I wanted, plus 2" for the casings. I folded the top and bottom of the fabric over about 1," and then I sewed them down with a double running stitch. I embroidered on the Japanese characters, and then I folded the bag in half, right sides together, and sewed up the sides, stopping when I reached the bottom of the casings--you don't want to close them. Then I cut 2 pieces of yarn and threaded them through, tying knots at the end.

Even though the bag is plain, I'm really proud about it. Next I want to knit a sweater--a chunky sweater with BIG needles. Maybe US 19.

How to get a Guy (named ******) to Stop Annoying You

Ha ha, I found this in my art journal; I was really annoyed at this guy. Guess I wasn't very mature or nice, but he was really mean. Plus he swears. I don't like it when people swear. It gets to me for some reason. Maybe I'm just really easy to infuriate, but everyone is at one point or other. Here's the entry I made:

1. Don't let him get to you, because you know you are an infinitely amount of times smarter than he is.

2. Don't ignore him. Stand up for yourself and only back down if he threatens to beat you up, touch your hair, or throw an onion at you.

3. When he says, "Shut up," tell him that the term shut up is for people who don't know what else to say. Then tell him to shut up.

4. When the sub teacher accidently calls him Marian, remember that.

5. When you have to correct the sub on how to say your name and ****** keeps copying your voice, tell him to "Shut up, Marian." It will get to him. He may call you a loser. This is the time when rule #2 should be ignored as you snicker and bask in triumph.
